self tanner without gloves?

I recently purchased fake bake self tanner. It says that you should always wear gloves while using it. I am just going to be applying it to my face. The other day i went to put it on with the gloves and it looked really smeared because i wasnt able to rub it in good so i had to wash it off. DOes anyone know if it is ok to use it without gloves as long as you wash hands immediently after use?

Well i used to use that all the time without gloves and it turned my hands orange! (i never washed my hands afterword) And when the orange went away i used it again without the gloves and washed my handed with soap and water right after ward and no a bit of orange .Good Luck
