Problems with a stratton bed part two?

I posted problem about stratton bed and reply came in only with moisture. I live on coast of calif. So temp and moisture is a fctor. But what happen is that in middle of matteress over the area that don't get ventilation. Center of stratton, Is were condisation formed causing mold. Yellow, purple,green,brown and black.Have Tempur-pedic matteress. But know issue is no ventilation. Help..

Emily wants to fence part of her front yard for a rectangular flower bed. What is the maximum area she can enclose if she has 30 m of fencing?

The section of my book that this question is in is called "maximum or minimum of a quadratic function by completing the square".. so im supposed to do it by completing the square i think.

You could do it analytically, or by recognizing that the maximum area to perimeter ratio of a rectangle occurs in a square. So the maximum area will be a square flower bed with sides equal to 30/4 = 7.5 meters.

Now doing it analytically:

let x = width and y = length of the rectangular area.
Perimeter = 30 = 2(x+y) ==> x+y = 15 ==> y = 15-x
Area = A = xy = x(15-x) = 15x - x²

x² - 15x = -A
completing the square:
(x² - 15x + 225/4) = (225/4) - A
(x - 15/2)² = (225/4) - A
or
A = -(x-15/2)² + (225/4)
from which you can see that A is largest when -(x-15/2)² = 0 or x = 15/2 = 7.5
Therefore, the dimensions of the largest area with a perimeter of 30 m is a square 7.5 m on each side. And the area with those dimensions is A = 225/4 = 56.25 m²
