Blue Contour

I have a 1999 ford contour that just dies right out of the blue but will start back up. Whats wrong?

Starting to happen more and more.Does it on stops and turns

EGR valve ?

does your check engine light come on & then go off?

check for wire harness degradation.

DTC P0401 indicates "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected". This can also be caused by a blockage in the EGR flow. To fix this you need to remove the EGR valve and make sure the EGR passages are free and clear. You can use a screwdriver, drill bit or stiff wire, whatever works, to clear the passages.
