do i HAVE to use special lotion before tanning?

I am starting a package of tanning sessions next week and was wondering wether it was ok just to use cocoa butter moisturiser before, or if you must use the expensive lotions at the salon. i have never used a tanning salon before so i have no idea. i was hoping coco butter would be ok, as the lotions are expensive.

If you ask they will give some line about other lotions harming the beds. Just do it! I use Johnson's Baby Lotion and it works great.
