Cloths After Tan

What is the best way to get ERA laundry detergent out of wall-to-wall carpet? Yikes!?
The spot on the carpet is about 4 inches by 4 inches due to my efforts to clean it up with a damp cloth. Otherwise, it would probably have been 3 inches by 3 inches. The carpet is a very light tan. After my first attempt to get it out, I just let it dry for a couple days. Now it looks white with soap and feels more stiff than the rest of the carpet. THANKS!
Thanks!
The only possible way to get this detergent out is with the proper extraction method with the proper power.
It may not be the answer you want, but Keri, you WILL NOT be able to get this out yourself.
I use $28,000 truckmounts that are installed in my vans, and even I cannot guarantee to a customer that we will completely remove all of the residue from a soap or detergent.
The idea is to remove or extract the residue, not apply more chemicals or products to the carpet. There is no way to neutralize or dissipate the detergent by use of any product.
It MUST be extracted. Solely vacuuming over this area, even with the most powerful commercial vacuum, will not remove the detergent.
As a note, you must always be careful when you use any product on your carpet. The most common risk is affecting the dyes of your carpet. Resolve, Woolite, Shot-Spot, and even the beloved OxiClean contain "optical brighteners" which have the potential to leave a bleaching effect. It usually depends on the material, condition, and age of your carpet. Polyester has a high tendency to brighten with many products, and nylon isn't too far behind. Your "light spot" may just be whitish from the detergent, or the color has been slightly stripped already.
Power is the name of the game when it comes to extraction. A portable steam cleaner doesn't have the power to solve your problem, but if you don't wish to call a professional, at least it's a start. If you try one, DO NOT USE ANY CLEANER OR SOLUTION. You don't want to add to the problem. Again, you are not trying to clean the spot, you are trying to extract it.
Carpet is like a sponge. If you rinse the sponge then squeeze, you can get soap out of it many times over. However with carpet, the soap or foam coming out poses a problem. The water pressure being shot into the carpet (preferably 500-600 psi) will continually cause foam. This foam will enter the recovery hoses of the system and drastically reduce the vacuum pressure. Almost a paradox, the more you extract, the less you will be able to extract.
A professional will use liquid or crystalline powdered defoamer, which will reduce the amount of foaming and allow him/her to extract as much as possible.
Any product you see as a defoamer will not remove the soap or detergent. It merely lessens the foaming during extraction.
The rough stiffening of you carpet in that area is simply from the residue coating your fibers. It will loosen when you get it wet, but stiffen again when dry. The water will dissipate and leave the detergent behind, returning it to a powdered state.
I can only recommend to call a professional. Be sure to explain your problem to the technician. Make sure he/she goes over the spot repeatedly. It may look good right when it's done, but after it dries it may become stiff and noticeable again. So it's important the technician spends quite a bit of time on it. You would be surprised by how much soap will come out of even the smallest of spots.
A professional may be able to extract most of the detergent and eliminate the stiffness (possibly the whiteness too), however you might always have a slight residue in that area. Good Luck!

Tan Sleeve - Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance
Choose Your Medieval Clothing Style To Attend A Medieval Wedding
Do you have an invitation to attend a medieval wedding? Don't know what should you wear? Before you spend time searching for costumes and purchase anything, you should first find out if the wedding style. Is the wedding style going to be a peasant style medieval wedding or lords and kings style medieval wedding? Showing up in different style and costumes would certainly be awkward.
The bride and groom may have a simple wedding ceremony outside in nature like a peasant and move on to a medieval feast like in a castle. In this case, you could choose and wear a costume that meets somewhat between the two classes, like well-to-do merchants, lesser nobles, royal knights, a lady-in-waiting, or else.
The couple may have an elaborate church wedding and then have their reception at some outdoor venue. Dressing down would be more appropriate. You can choose more fitting to the lower classes such as a serving wench, a lesser knight, or a villager.
Medieval Clothing styles changed with each generation. But, there are still some common elements through most of the styles.
The materials used for medieval clothing was heavier than it is today. If you plan on sewing your own costumes, keep in mind that pastel colors were outdated. The colors should be vibrant, rich and deep. Choose materials that contain deep blues, forest green, burgundies or chocolate browns.
Choose a suitable materials for the main outer garment such as velvet, brocade or damask. Take care in choosing the material pattern. Medieval clothing did not contain stripes, polka dots or small patterns. You can add leather laces, ribbons and other such ties to secure clothing. If you elect to wear peasant garb, choose attire made from linen, cotton or other materials so you will remain comfortable.
If you don't have much time to search around, maybe rent a medieval costume isn't a bad idea. However, it depends on your costume rental shop or a professional theatre whether they have some sort of medieval clothing that you wants. Your medieval costume selection may be limited. You can try purchasing a medieval costume online to save your time.
