Body Lotion and Creams Don't Work Unless They Do This

Before I started researching skin body lotion and creams, I didn't really understand how these products would help me. Sure, they were advertised to keep my skin firm and flexible.

But how exactly?

I needed to learn more about skin. How does skin function? What's in it? And, most importantly, what makes it breakdown and look old? After reading through a few scientific sites on skin health, it became obvious. Two proteins control how your skin looks:

Collagen and elastin.

Young skin is supple; you pull it, pinch it, rub it, and it goes back to its original form. Aging skin is another matter; it sags on its own and wrinkles start to appear. How saggy and wrinkly your skin looks is closely related to the level of collagen and elastin in the skin.

As you age, the body produces less and less collagen and elastin. That's primarily why skin deteriorates like it does. Yes, stuff like poor diet and excessive sun-tanning can make your skin look terrible too. But mostly it's these two proteins you need to worry about.

Many body creams contain collagen and elastin. Great, you're thinking, problem solved. Well, not quite. Upon researching this further, I found out that skin cannot absorb collagen and elastin molecules.

If you use body lotion and creams containing collagen and elastin, they won't penetrate the top layer of skin. And even if they could be absorbed, they wouldn't fit into the complex protein structure found in the skin.

Basically what you should know is...AVOID body creams with collagen and elastin listed as ingredients. There is no scientific evidence backing up their absorption claims.

Only anti aging creams containing natural substances that help the body produce more of its own collagen and elastin will rejuvenate skin. This is the key to a skin care product's effectiveness.

The rejuvenation has to happen inside the skin itself. You can't just rub on new skin cells, but that's what many manufacturers would have consumers believe. You'll never get the info in this article from a TV commercial or a magazine ad.
