Is it true that the Dead Sea prevents your skin from every having flaws?

I was in the mall yesterday and some people from Israel were trying to sell me some salt and cream to put on my birth marks because they said the things that come out the Dead/Salt Sea takes away all your flaws. They say people spend thousand of dollars just to dip in that sea. Is this all true?

Sea salt taking away a birth mark? Sounds kind-of odd. Unless it has bleach or peroxide in it.

Dead Sea Scrolls Download

This is a review of The Modern Scholar: The Dead Sea Scrolls download available from Audible.  This download is a course on the Dead Sea Scrolls taught by Lawrence Schiffman.  He is a widely recognized expert on both the scrolls and the Hebrew Bible in general.  He currently teaches in the Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University and has been featured in a number of television programs about the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The course contains 14 lectures each lasting approximately 30 minutes. This allows an overview of the topics covered; however, it also keeps the lectures from going into an extraordinary amount of detail.  This makes the course a good one for the general learner interested in the scrolls, but not necessarily for the serious academic looking for more detailed information.  The lectures include interesting topics like "The Library of Qumran," "Scandal and Publication," and "The Messiah and the End of Days."

Problematically, with the audio download one does not receive the booklet that typically accompanies the course. Yet the tradeoff is that for Audible members the download costs significantly less with download credits than it would if one ordered the CD version of the course.

Overall, the course has decent ratings on Audible with 3.5 stars.  It is also the only full-length audio course on the Dead Sea Scrolls of which I am aware.  My recommendation is that it is definitely worth a try if you have at least a moderate interest in the scrolls and are not overly interested in having the booklet.
