Why is it different: A powerful antioxidant blend of white, red, and green tea extracts combined with goji berry, pomegranate, and grape seed extracts to help fight free-radical attack. Paraben- and preservative-free. How to do I use it: Prepare the skin to accept an even tan by gently exfoliating dead skin cells prior to treatment. Apply evenly to the entire surface and massage into the skin using long, even strokes. If a deeper color is desired, wait 30 minutes and reapply a second time avoiding elbows, knees, and feet. Sunless tanning (also known as self tanning, fake tanning, or UVfree tanning) refers to applying chemicals to the body to produce an effect similar in appearance to a more traditional suntan. Sunless tanning arose in response to links between sun exposure and skin cancer discovered in the 1960s, along with other alternatives to natural sun tanning such as the use of a sunbed or tanning bed.The most effective products available are sunless tanning or self tanning lotions and sprays that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. Tanning addiction is a rare syndrome where an individual appears to have a physical and/or psychological addiction to sunbathing or the use of tanning beds. The mechanism of the addiction is unknown at this time.In 2005, a group of dermatologists published a study showing that frequent tanners experience a loss of control over their tanning schedule, displaying a pattern of addiction similar to smokers and alcoholics.Biochemical evidence indicates that tanning addicts are addicted to an opioid release experienced during tanning. A tanning bed or sunbed is a device emitting ultraviolet radiation (typically 95 UVA and 5 UVB, +/3) used to produce a cosmetic tan. Regular tanning beds use several fluorescent lamps that have phosphor blends designed to emit UV in a spectrum that is somewhat similar to the sun. Smaller, home tanning beds usually have 12 to 28 100 watt lamps while systems found in salons can run from 24 to 60 lamps, each consuming 100 to 200 watts.There are also high pressure tanning beds that generate primarily UVA with some UVB by using highly specialized quartz lamps, reflector systems and filters. These are much more expensive, thus less commonly used. A tanning booth is quite similar to a tanning bed, but the individual stands while tanning and the typical power output of booths is higher.
