Eco Safety How bad is the Costa Rican rainy season in mid-May?
My fiance and I are brainstorming honeymoon destinations. We want to go somewhere on a reasonable budget that has reputable eco-tourism companies. Costa Rica is one destination we're considering, but we'll be married next May and that seems to be the start of the rainy season, or "green season" as the tourist companies call it. So we're concerned about getting rained out, and also about mosquitos. Should we take malarial preventative drugs?
We're open to looking at other destinations, too-- somewhere tropical, coastal, and sunny with a lot of interesting wildlife. We are also safety-conscious, so we'd prefer to go to a country with a relatively stable government and relatively good medical care. Thank you to whoever offers any tips.
