Tan lines from tanning bed?

I went to Electric Beach Tanning Studio for the first time the other day and got a pretty nice tan. Through the rest of the day I was perfectly fine but when I got home from work that night my back was so itchy and i looked at it and it was red, I guess I got burned from the bed which surprised me cause I've never burned, even when laying out in the sun all day, normally I just tan.

Well the day after, most of the irritation was gone but there's an obvious line that separates where I'm lighter in front from where I'm darker on my back (the part of me that was actually in contact with the bed the whole time) and that section is a bit darker (the line is noticable if you look at it).

How do I keep from getting this uneven tan?
Can I lay on my front side in the tanning bed?
It was level one for 20 minutes and I had the fan on high, does the fan effect it? Should I keep it off and tan without it?
Should I move around in the bed instead of staying still the whole 20 minutes?

I know how you feel this happens to me too!
Since level one beds dont fully come up on the sides that area doesnt tan as well as the rest of you, I usually change positions either every 5-10 minutes or lay on my front for one session then lay on my back for the next etc.. however you feel comfortable moving around! It's definitely ok to switch positions!
The fan doesnt affect your tan at all..all it does is keep you cool, trust me i've had the fan off once and I got so hot I could barely stand it so keep the fan on:)

Also, since your body/skin isnt used to the ultraviolet rays it does usually burn the first few times you go, even if you dont burn in the sun. My skin will usually get a little red the first week I tan then after that its smooth sailing from there!
