Ever More Age

Since the age of Ă˜bama was supposed to be peace and love, why is North Korea more belligerent than ever?
Don't the North Koreans get a tingly feeling from The One?
Given that Kim Jong Il is in all likelihoods going to shift his mortal coil soon and his successor his third son Kim Jong-un. His elevation comes at the expense of his two older brothers, each of whom had previously been in contention to take the helm. Kim Jong-nam, the eldest, ruled himself out when he was caught trying to visit Disneyland in Japan on a fake passport in 2001. The middle brother, Kim Jong-chul, is apparently too "girlish" to rule.
By contrast, Kim Jong-un is a "chip off the old block". The firing of several short-range missiles, could be designed to create a personality cult around its new leader. "I think the campaign is aimed at building up achievements that the successor can later claim credit for," said Cheong Seong, a professor at the Sejong Institute in South Korea.
Posters on the streets of the Pyongyang show workers soaring into the sky alongside rockets, as part of a campaign to instill North Koreans with pride in Juche, the quasi-religious ideology invented by Kim Il-sung exhorting "self-reliance".
Technically, North Korea is still ruled by Kim Il-sung, who continues to hold the titles of Eternal President of the Republic and "Great Leader" despite his death in 1994. Kim Jong-il's rule is based on the idea that he is a physical incarnation of his father, using "Yuhun Congch'i" (politics in accordance with the wishes of the ghost) to legitimize his position.
When Kim Jong-il took over the leadership, a calculated campaign attributed super human powers to him, including the ability to manipulate time. The whole war footing is very much a calculated move to ensure that Kim Jong Un has a personality cult when he takes over or if the knives are out he will be found dead in a dark ally in Pyongyang. The fact that President Obama is perceived to less bellicose than George W Bush is what they are hoping to have him back down so they can boast that they beat America.

Before Ever After (Paperback) $21.41 "A smartly written romance, mystery and historical adventure all wrapped up in a page-turner that will have you guessing until the very end." – Adena Halpern, author of The Ten Best Days of My Life  Three years after her husband Max`s death, Shelley feels no more adjusted to being a widow than she did that first terrible day. That is, until the doorbell rings. Standing on her front step is a young man who looks so much like Max–same smile, same eyes, same age, same adorable bump in his nose–he could be Max`s long-lost relation. He introduces himself as Paolo, an Italian editor of American coffee table books, and shows Shelley some childhood photos. Paolo tells her that the man in the photos, the bearded man who Paolo says is his grandfather though he never seems to age, is Max. Her Max. And he is alive and well. As outrageous as Paolo`s claims seem–how could her husband be alive? And if he is, why hasn`t he looked her up? – Shelley desperately wants to know the truth. She and Paolo jet across the globe to track Max down–if it is really Max– and along the way, Shelley recounts the European package tour where they had met. As she relives Max`s stories of bloody Parisian barricades, medieval Austrian kitchens, and buried Roman boathouses, Shelley begins to piece together the story of who her husband was and what these new revelations mean for her "happily ever after." And as she and Paolo get closer to the truth, Shelley discovers that not all stories end where they are supposed to.From the Hardcover edition. |

More Essential Than Ever (Hardcover) $51.39 When the states ratified the Bill of Rights in the eighteenth century, the Fourth Amendment seemed straightforward. It requires that government respect the right of citizens to be "secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures." Of course, "papers and effects" are now digital and thus more vulnerable to government spying. But the biggest threat may be our own weakening resolve to preserve our privacy. In this potent new volume in Oxford`s Inalienable Rights series, legal expert Stephen J. Schulhofer argues that the Fourth Amendment remains, as the title says, more essential than ever. From data-mining to airport body scans, drug testing and aggressive police patrolling on the streets, privacy is under assault as never before--and we`re simply getting used to it. But the trend is threatening the pillars of democracy itself, Schulhofer maintains. "Government surveillance may not worry the average citizen who reads best-selling books, practices a widely accepted religion, and adheres to middle-of-the-road political views," he writes. But surveillance weighs on minorities, dissenters, and unorthodox thinkers, "chilling their freedom to read what they choose, to say what they think, and to associate with others who are like-minded." All of us are affected, he adds. "When unrestricted search and surveillance powers chill speech and religion, inhibit gossip and dampen creativity, they undermine politics and impoverish social life for everyone." Schulhofer offers a rich account of the history and nuances of Fourth Amendment protections, as he examines such issues as street stops, racial profiling, electronic surveillance, data aggregation, and the demands of national security. The Fourth Amendment, he reminds us, explicitly authorizes invasions of privacy--but it requires justification and accountability, requirements that reconcile public safety with liberty. Combining a detailed knowledge of specific case |

2012 Event Horizon: (4) Prophecies and Science of a Golden Age, by David Wilcock
What is the Best Way of Treating Aging Skin?
In this day and age that people have become obsessed with the way they look, treating aging skin has gained an increasing importance in medical research. In this article, I will first try to give you an overview of the underlying causes of skin aging and then I will present the different options one has in front of her or him, when she or he is seeking the best route to retard the aging process.
As scientists say, there are two types of aging. One is called "intrinsic" and the other "extrinsic".
First, the "intrinsic" type. As its name suggests, this type of aging is caused by internal factors, i.e. from the genes we inherit. It is a continuous process that normally begins in our mid-20s. In a nutshell, what happens during this process is that the collagen and elastin underneath our skin, these are proteins which keep our skin youthful looking and firm, gets gradually depleted. As a result, our skin begins to sag and form wrinkles.
The speed, with which this process unfolds, depends on the type of genes we have. Some of us show visible signs of aging even from mid-thirties, while others seem to age gracefully, with no signs until our mature years.
And then, we have the "extrinsic" type of aging. A number of external factors often act together with the normal aging process to prematurely age our skin. Most premature aging is caused by sun exposure. Other external factors that prematurely age our skin are repetitive facial expressions, gravity (when elastin and collagen get less and less, the effect of earth's gravity on our body gets increasingly pronounced leading to drooping nose tips, elongated ears etc.) and smoking.
Broadly speaking, considering now the options we have in treating aging skin, there are two types of treatment. One is the more "aggressive" type, which involves application of direct cosmetic procedures that can only be performed by a qualified dermatologist. The other type is the "mild" treatment you can do on your own, involving use of appropriate anti aging skin care products.
Some brief examples of treating aging skin through cosmetic procedures are listed below. As you can imagine, thanks to the spectacular technological breakthroughs that have been achieved the last few years, there is an impressive and diverse array of cosmetic procedures that now exist and a complete presentation of these is beyond the scope of this article!
1. Botulinum Rejuvenation: This method is widely known as Botox. During this procedure, small amounts of botulinum toxin are injected into the desired area (face and/or neck).
2. Chemical Peeling: This procedure involves direct application of chemicals on the skin (face, hands, neck, and chest), peeling away many visible signs of aging.
3. Laser Skin Rejuvenation: This method of treating aging skin is relatively new, which has emerged due to the rapid advancements of laser technology. Today's lasers can diminish many signs of aging - from early wrinkles and age spots to deep lines and spider veins.
There are pros and cons in each method and there are a whole bunch of variables that one must carefully consider before she or he decides to go down this route.
The most important variables to consider would be signs of aging you want to correct (wrinkles, discoloration, dull complexion etc), your age, possible side effects, required downtime, expected results, how long the results are expected to last before you need to undergo some treatment again and finally the cost.
Each variable is different from individual to individual and can only be defined in consultation with your dermatologist.
And, of course, don't forget the most important issue of all! Regardless of all the pros and cons, the success of all methods is solely dependent on the skills and qualifications of the person performing it. Make sure that you trust your precious skin to a professional dermatologist, qualified for the particular method you choose.
Having said all above, we now come to an alternative method of treating aging skin, much less aggressive: Using high quality, natural skin care products. With no surgical procedures, no downtime and zero side effects and very important, much less costly, considering that almost all of the methods discussed should be more or less frequently repeated. Of course, it is a much more gradual process, without the spectacular, overnight results that these methods promise to deliver.
In conclusion, there is no one definite answer to the question "what is the best way of treating aging skin?" It all depends on personal preferences, expectations, personal budget, and individual circumstances.
Personally, I opt for the "mild" solution, using only natural, high quality skin care products. Visit my website today to see products I recommend after extensive research.

As a very strong Christian and a gay man who happens to be happily married (to a woman), I very seldom find myself quoting Scripture, but I've got one for the Bible-thumpers… and for you: Judge not, lest ye be judged". Christianity is at its best when we look at the Cross as a giant "T" at the beginning of the word Tolerance. That one word is the foundation of Christianity, and it is as rock-solid as God Himself.
The trend you bring up here is not so much a trend as it is something that comes and goes in cycles. When times are good it is easy for everyone to be tolerant, but when times are bad it's just human nature to look for something or someone to blame for the problems. When the economy is bad here in the United States, all kinds of hatred (racial, religious, gender, and orientation-based) rise, as do tensions between liberals and conservatives, union workers vs. non-union, etc. In the former Yugoslavia, Serbian nationals blamed the problems on ethnic Albanians living on "their" land, and the list goes on.
It's easy to lay the blame on religion, and tensions are often divided along religious lines, but it really is human nature based on the self-preservation instinct, which is as old as life itself. We all need to try our best to be tolerant of others now when times are bad, and have faith that it will get better.
