Is hemp the same thing as marijuana?

Like, does it have the same effects? Because I bought a lotion with hemp seed extract in it and I'm kind of scared to use it lol, I know it sounds stupid but I just wanted to know would anything bad happen or what would it do?

Hemp is made from a male marijuana plant. Only female plants produce THC and other chemicals with psychoactive properties.

In other words, you will be fine. You would be fine rubbing marijuana all over yourself as well as long as you don't ingest it or inhale it.
