Are Paraben Free Lotions and Creams Really That Important?

It seems that there are not enough people calling out for paraben free lotions and creams to get the cosmetics industry to remove these potentially deadly chemicals from their products. It is quite possible that most people do not realize just how dangerous it is to put formulas containing these and other toxins on their skin. The word needs to get out.

Parabens are a group of chemical agents that are widely used as preservatives in cosmetics. These agents are methyl, propyl, butyl, and ethyl parabens, and you usually get stuck with more than one of them in each of your skin care products. Studies have suggested that these agents may cause cancer in those that use formulas containing them over an extended period of time.

The need for paraben free lotions and creams should really hit home with women, since one of the forms of cancer that these chemicals have been linked with most often is breast cancer. A study done just a couple of years back took random tumor samples from women that had nothing in common, and each of the tumors was found to have parabens inside.

Of course, these are not the only hazardous chemicals that the cosmetics industry uses. Take the antibacterial agent triclosan for example. You don't only want paraben free lotions and creams, but formulas that are free of any type of chemical agent at all. What you want to have in the formulas that you use to treat your skin are proteins, enzymes, and plant based oils and extracts. These compounds will cause you no harm at all, and will provide your skin with all of the essential nutrients necessary for it to stay healthy.

Now that you know exactly what kind of ingredients the majority of the cosmetics industry is using to poison your body, maybe you will join the fight to have all natural paraben free lotions and creams more abundantly available. At the very least get products for yourself that contain none of the typical toxins in them, and be sure to tell your friends that they should do the same.
