Indoor tanning: bed vs. upright booth?
I'm looking for info on tanning beds vs. stand up booths from experienced users. Are bed users likely to end up with lighter stripes down their sides? Is it good to tan laying on your side from time to time in a bed to resolve that issue or use the stand up booths? I've heard that the booths have a higher power output, so if I ever use one should I shorten my typical bed time? What's the benefit to using the booth - I've only used beds and think it would be less relaxing to have to stand there the entire time.... TIA for any answers!
Note: spare me the sarcastic "you're going to die of skin cancer!" speeches - I'm fully aware of the facts surrounding indoor tanning. Don't waste your time or mine, thanks!
The drawbacks to lay down beds are that you may get pressure points from tailbone or shoulder blades. You can remedy this by moving around during the session so that blood is flowing in all areas. The missing the sides thing can be remedied by putting your arms above your head during the session.
You should never have to lay on your sides or flip over during a session.
A standup may be stronger (less session time), so the staff will help you adjust the time accordingly.
Standup or lay-down is totally up to you and your preference. Talk to the staff if you are concerned about pressure points or missing sides/armpits.
And just so you know, the vitamin D you are getting from moderate UV exposure will save your life! Don't be afraid of tanning!

If I use an indoor tanning lotion in the tanning bed will it color my tattoo?
I have a large very bright tattoo on my arm and use sunblock on it while in the tanning bed but I used a tanning lotion with bronzer in it for the rest of my body. I want to know if I put the bronzer on the tattoo if it will color it.
It will dye your skin, but it won't affect the ink in your tattoo at all. Your tattoo could look faded or orangey. But it won't affect your actual tattoo adversely at all. Does it wash off? Is it gradual tan moisturizer or just just sparkly bronzing lotion. Bronzer should just wash off; it won't hurt the tattoo.
But you really should be putting tattoo-specific protectant on it as well when you tan.
