Do I have to use exfoliater before tanning moisturizer?

So, I want to try that self tanner thing, but I want to make it a little more sudden, so I got "Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer Lotion" but I am kind of nervous to use it. Everyone says exfoliate before using self tanner, but since this is a moisturizer do I still have to? What about moisturizing?? Does the self tanner moisturizer basically take care of that?

I am also nervous about applying to my face, how do I apply it evenly and what areas should I avoid. For example, my eyes. It says no eye contact, so what area am I supposed to not use tanner on?

It is really important to exfoliate before use. If you have any dryness the tanning lotion will be darker in those areas. Also if you have never used it before you should do a test spot on a place no one will be able to see it so that you know how much to apply and to see what color you will turn. Good luck!
