Dry peeling skin on my nose?

i'm not sure if it's sunburned, or just an acne product i use that contains salicylic acid (i don't have bad acne, just a few spots occasionally.), but my nose recently has been very dry and it's peeling. It's red too, but it doesn't really hurt unless i peel some of the skin, in which case it stings a little.

This peeling makes it very hard for me to apply foundation and cover up to hide the redness, and it appears very cakey and ugly after i do attempt to apply makeup.

I use Mary Kay Balancing Moisturizer every night and under my makeup, but so far it hasn't done a thing. I've tried sunscreen too, but that doesn't do anything either.

Any advice, tips, or products i can use to make this problem go away? especially when applying my makeup?

Salicylic acid will make your face dry out..especially around the nose area. I had the same problem as well. What works for me is using a gentle exfoliator around my nose and then finish off with a moisturizer. Then put foundation on. It works for me!! Give it a try!!

What sunscreen doesn't feel greasy or make you break out and how do I get my makeup to go on smoothly with it?

I have sensitive skin, very fair so I ALWAYS need to wear sunscreen. Every brand I've tried: Copertone, umbrella, rexal, mary kay, visage, and rexal sun assist, all make me break out in a ton of zits or a rash and feel greasy and horrible. I don't have oily skin, infact its pretty dry, but every sunscreen leaves a terrible greasy feeling layer on my skin and it also messes up my makeup and globs it all up if I put it on before or after. Is there any sunscreens out there that don't feel greasy or make you break out, and how do I apply makeup to my face (powders, foundations, blushes) When I am wearing sunscreen?

I was having much the same problem recently, I have very fair skin (even with sunscreen I burn just driving to and from work) and hated the sunscreen I was using because it made my skin feel so greasy. As the other person mentioned, Nuetrogena Dry-Touch is a great non-greasy sunscreen, I'm using SPF 70 though I would reccommend against using a spray lotion as most people don't wear enough sunscreen as it is and are even less likely to do so with a fine mist spray. If you're very fair and burn easily it's even more important to use the appropriate amount.

As for the makeup, *always* put your makeup on over the sunscreen, never the other way around as the sunscreen is less effective when it's not in contact with your skin directly. Using a loose powder foundation with a brush is a great start because not only are you less likely to "rub off" some of your sunscreen, the powder will also help to absorb any of the additional moisture from your sunscreen, lessening the shine factor it can leave.

Also, remember to wash your face at night every night to remove the makeup and sunscreen so they don't build up on your face and in your pores. Even a high quality facial soap can sometimes dry out your face a little, so make sure to use a light moisturizer (specifically designed for your face) after you wash. This will help in the morning when you put the sunscreen on - your face will be less likely to have a reaction if you're keeping your face clean and well mousturized, rather than constantly going from dry to greasy.
