Are there any free apps which can record laptop screen activities with sound or without sound?

I need to know if there is any freely available app for windows operating platform that would help me to record activities that are currently active taking place on my desktop front screen. If in case it is any information say a clip or movies that does not permit downloading is it possible to record and save that preferably with a sound in a desired universal extension format so that it can be used as whenever required?

recording clips or movies from online streaming video sharing site for commercial uses is illegal, unless you are allowed to do so. Though it's still a gray area in law, keep away from it.

Democeator is one good choice to record your desktop activity with sound or in mute. It can be not only a screen recorder but also video editor, though it's shareware but worth every penny.

Is it safe to remove a laptops screen+screen casing from a laptop?

My Compaq Presario 700 laptops screen is broken/cracked and I'm using an external monitor. Is it safe to completely remove the screen and screen casing from the main part of the laptop? Or will something happen when the screen is taken away that the laptop will think something is missing and then not work?

Yes that may well happen - 'don't even think about doing that' unless you are a computer expert - because 'when it all goes wrong' you'll have nothing to use in the mean time - at the moment you've at least got use from it. It will have to go away for repair (by the experts) or buy a new one.

To many people out there have 'messed around' with their LT and its all gone wrong because they 'really' did'nt know what they were doing.

Either way its going to cost you 'money' we all have to live with these hassels in life.
