How do you make chapstick and lip balm?

I have plenty chapsticks and lip balms and lip glosses but I thought it would be fun to try making my own. i want to make a peppermint chapstick by melting a candy cane and using petroleum jelly. I have an empty chapstick container that is washed out. Im not sure how to make a chapstick though making lip balm in a container is easy but i want to make a chapstick. thanks!

Hi. Do not use petroleum jelly.Petroleum jelly is a PETRO CHEMICAL, IS VERY BAD FOR YOUR SKIN. Make your own UN-petroleum jelly. Use 2 ounces of beeswax( or another natural wax) and 1 cup of olive,castor,or sweet almond oil. Melt wax with the oil in a glass Pyrex cup at low temp in microwave at 15 second intervals till wax is melted. Let cool a little bit, then add your peppermint oil (very little) , then pour into tubes or pots. Try adding other oils as you get used to making lip balms. All ingredients can be bought at a grocery store, or health store. Good luck!!
