Is it a bad idea to use hairspray instead of a gel or lotion with velcro rollers?

I have very thick hair that has lots of volume, but I got a multi pack velcro rollers set to have big curls. (I can't STAND using a curling iron). XD
I've never used rollers before and right now all I have at home is hairspray. Can you use that, or should I just go out and get voluminous mousse or protective spray?

you can use hairspray to get a better hold of the curls but it may make it cruncy so I would recommend some mousse. if you curl your hair when it's dry, you might not even need anything but if it's wet, definetly use mouse and hairspray after you take out the curlers.
