Half of a plastic easter carrot fell down the lint filter chute of my dryer. Can I leave it?

I see no way of retrieving it. The filter is about 18 inches and curved. The chute is vertical; it is also long and curved. So, I can't even put masking tape on the end of a stick to try and get it because of the curve. How hot does it get at the bottom of the lint chute? Can I leave it or will it melt?
