Do these indoor tanning products really work?

Has anyone ever used Ocean Potion or Hawaiian Tropic in a tanning bed? Do they really work? Are they just as good as the products they try to sell in tanning salons that cost big money?

Larp Equipment Guide for Larping Larp

There are numerous LARP clubs and groups in the UK and each one will have different requirements for what you need to bring with you when participating in a larp event. I have tried to create a list that will be helpful regardless of what type of larp you are talking part in.

LARP costume

Unless you are taking part in a modern day larp you will need a costume for the character you are going Larping as. You can buy said costumes either at a larp event that has traders or via many an online store. Most larp suppliers now have websites with a good range of kit available to the new or veteran live role player. You can of course make your own larp costume or borrow one; most clubs will be happy to lend you what you need if it is your first time

LARP weapons

Most Live Action Roleplaying events do involve some form of larp combat so you will need to have a larp safe combat weapon. Again there are many larp traders who supply these weapons. You can make one yourself however there are a number of important safety issues with home made larp weapons so please talk to someone from the larp club you intend to visit to see what these are before you go to a lot of time and expense making something that may not be considered larp safe. It is less likely that you will be able to borrow a weapon than costume.

Other in character LARP kit

Once you have your costume and weapon sorted there are a number of other larp extras that can make your overall look much better when you go larping. I will list a few examples of these however you are really only limited by your imagination; armour, pouch, belt, scabbard, pipe, hat, wig, prosthetic,  leather bound book, gloves, boots, jewellery, potion bottles. The more effort you put into making your accessories suit the larp genre you take part in the better look you will have for larping.

Sleeping kit for a LARP event

Many larp events are longer than a day in length and will require you sleeping for at least one night as part of the larping experience. It is vital that you check with the event organisers whether you will be sleeping in game or out as this will effect what you need to bring. You also need to know if the event is camping or in a building and if inside is it sleeping on a floor or is a mattress provided. Live action role playing is usually an active hobby and long days mean very tired players. Many larpers now bring air beds to events and if sleeping in game bring blankets or similar to cover them for a better larp look.

Other useful kit for LARP events

Here is a number of other useful items that whilst not always needed can come in very handy on any larp game; candles, pencil & paper, spare boots, directions to the event, friends, food and drink, wash kit, spare dry clothes, insect repellent, gloves, torch, larp bag for carrying food and drink, larp water bottle (at least 1 in summer), sun tan lotion in summer, camping stove and cooking gear if required, sense of humour and last but not least a suitable larp drinking vessel such as a tankard.
