Computer takes a long time to boot?

I have a Dell Studio 1558, i5-520M, 8GB DDR3 RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I use Symantec Endpoint protection for antivirus. I use Wise Registry Cleaner for registry defrag and cleanup roughly once a week. My HDD is 7200 RPM 500 GB, and was just defragmented. I use Autoruns to refine my startup, but that still hasn't helped.

i used a stopwatch, and my startup from BIOS to everything running was 4 minutes 19 seconds (that includes around 15 seconds for logon). The about 65% of the delay is between BIOS and logon screen, with the Windows flag emblem and "Starting Windows". the rest is after logon.

I use Fast Acess facial recognition, the Dell Dock, I have 3 desktop gadgets (CPU meter, weather monitor, and moon phase). I also run CoreTemp at startup.

How can I cut my boot time? 4 minutes is really long.
And Windows Aero is enabled, but I really don't want to give that up.

Check the boot processes in the from your systems control panel and look for unnecessary boot time services. Such as an anti virus boot scan and similar processes. Sometimes it is caused by the network card driver. Start your computer in safe mode and select the selective start up option and disable each service one by one (non windows) to find out which one is slowing down your boot process. It usually due to a boot scan, a faulty driver, or an invalid or corrupt registry entry. I highly doubt that you are infected with a virus and it is due one of the issues listed above.
