Is there a real side effect from going?

ok im not currently pregnant but lately i started tanning again. My patner and i have been ttc for a couple months now with baby #2. Well anyways i was wonder what are the side effects if any of tanning while prego? I had a teacher back in high school whos parents owned a tanning salon and she went tanning all the time up until she was too big for the bed then switched to the stand up booth. But her baby came out normal as can be. So is there a real side effect or do people over react about it?

cuz all a tanning bed is is sun maxed out but from a bulb.
well i mean there are fans in the rooms and if your feel yourself getting too hot couldnt you always just take a break?i mean it may take you an extra 5-10 minutes to tan for a 15 minutes session ..but i can agree with you.. i would never try it but i was curious.

They recommend you not use tanning beds during pregnancy because of the risk of overheating [same reason you wouldn't sit in a hot tub.] There isn't enough conclusive research to say whether it is safe or not, that's why you're just advised not to -- why take the risk? If you knew someone who smoked crack during their pregnancy and their baby came out fine, would you assume it's okay for you to do the same?
