Feeview remote control with timer?


When Digital Television really takes over, there will be many redundant VCR and DVD recorders, which only have analogue or Scart inputs but which will no longer be able to record multiple programs on different channels - because they cannot change the channel on the Freeview reciever.
Does anyone know of a Remote Control which will change the channel of a device at a pre-programmed time?
eg - change the Freeview box to a different channel, so that the VCR or DVD recorder can record on the Scart channel, but record different channels.
My vision was that the Remote Controller could sit opposite the Freeview box and remotely control the channel change without personal intervention.

If you are trying to set the Freeview receiver to change channels in order to record a programme, then most Freeview boxes will allow you to do this anyway.
I've owned a Matsui, a Humax and a Sony - they could all be programmed to change channels at a preset time, in order to record onto DVD or video.

Rights Of Part Time Workers?


I work for a small firm which sadly, like many others is suffering a downturn of orders. There is a possibility of redundancies in the near future.

There are 3 full time workers and 2 part time, including myself.

I was wondering if the full timers have better job security.

I have heard that part time workers are more likely to be made redundant first and would welcome your advice on this.

Full and Part - Time workers have exactly the same rights under English employment law. Any redundancies can only be made after consultation with employees either directly or by a representative of the employees choosing. Who goes would depend on the needs of the business, if the business for example is going to operate less hours or due to reducing numbers will need people to be flexible over hours then they may choose to keep the part-timers, alternatively they may choose a last in first out approach or base the decision on performance evaluation, either way there must be a consultation and you must be informed of what selection criteria is used. You are also entitled to redundancy pay just as a Full Time employee this is generally a statutory minimum of 1 Weeks pay for each year worked.

In short they cannot discriminate against you and dismiss you merely because you are part-time.
