there have been moments
in the dew-damp grass, barefoot,
half the morning still asleep,
my long legs and your long toes
whispering and laughing
listening to the sounds of
the night going to bed and
the day beginning to rise.
there have been times
in the summer's heat, scorching,
with the white flash of the sun
illuminating our tanned faces
as we dived headfirst into the lake
clothing sticking to us like a second skin
and we laughed as silver as bells.
there have been seconds
watching old movies, covered in popcorn
when we would laugh and laugh
at some stupid, juvenile thing
and you would reach out and squeeze
my elbow, without thinking
to keep yourself from falling over
and i would let you lean on me
because i know you would do the same.

there have been points in time
that i have been able to say
'i am happy here.'

I though that the poem was very touching. You described friendship so well. I thought that the ending was very good, almost like the icing on the cake.
