Are asians with tanned skin, admired in US and asians with white skin admired in Asia?(10pts)?

I'm asian Korean, to be specific and in Asia its seen as attractive to have white skin. Though in US its opposite it seems as though many men, especially caucasians like women with tanned skin, eg:Lucy Liu (she's pretty). Though in Asia someone like Min Hyo Rin (singer and model) would be admired due to her sharp and white features. How come many men in the states, prefer the Lucy Liu types, tanned skin, dark silk hair, almond eyes, smaller nose. I was surprised on the bus the other day this girl whispered to her friend: "her nose isn't asian, is she asian?". Talking about me, and no I didn't get surgery, my nose is larger on the side and has a large dorsal bump. This ignorant statement really hurt me. Nothing in here was meant to offend anyone.
