Best way to naturally tan?

Hope everyone else is loving the hot weather in the UK at the moment!
I'm trying to make the most of it while I can, and today tried to get myself a lovely natural tan. The slight burns on my shoulders and arms are evidence that I didn't do a very good job!
I used Garnier Ambre Solaire Bronzing Oil SPF 6.
It didn't make me tan very well and I was sunbathing for a good few hours.
Any suggestions on tanning well, sun block ect? Also good moisturizers for keeping skin looking awesome after too?

well sunburns turn into a tan but i wouldnt reccomend sun tanning the skin ancer look is out hahaha use a faux tanner you get the tan without the hospital bills
