Is it better to just use aloe on my sunburn, or can I start using lotion?

On Saturday I got a bad sunburn on my chest and on the tops of my shoulders, that hurt much worse that a sunburn of that degree should have, anyway, I've been using Aloe with Lidocaine and Tea Tree Extract to try to prevent peeling. Now the sunburn hurts MUCH less and is losing a little bit of it's color. It looks like there might be a little bit of peeling but not much. Anyway, my question is, should I just stick to the aloe which is soothing it and keeping it hydrated, but it's still rough, or can I start using lotions/body butters to help soften it up?

the roughness is dead skin, lotions will not nourish dead tissue because the tissue will not absorb the nourishment. if it does get softer it is only from the moisture and will fade quickly. keep using aloe it is the best for burns till you feel you don't need to use anything anymore
