Sperti Sun/Tanning Lamp Question: Plz Help?

I was in the attic earlier today and found a Sperti Sunlamp up there just chillin'. It's in cosmetically great shape, and was covered up in plastic. Is it still safe to use? It's been up there probably 15-20 years never used. I checked the cord and turned it on. The light came on, but there was a burning smell. I think it was from the heat it put out though (this damn thing got HOT in seconds)-thats normal though. I don't wanna try it again unless I know if it's safe or not. Don;t wanna burn the house down!

Wow that was there for more or less 2 decade now, well, i guess you have to let somebody to check it. Because i guess it will work still, yet you just need to be sure and be more safety.
