Any risks involved with using a tanning booth for short period?

I have lost a lot of weight and want to show it off, so I have been going to a tanning booth for a short while, just to get some base color. When that is done, I am done. I have no intentions on becoming a tanning regular. But, I would still like to know if I run any risks by even using the booth for a short while.
The average standup is twice as powerful as a lay down, and you tan for half the time. My sessions only last 10 minutes.

The danger of tanning depends on these factors: UV type, intensity, duration, and skin type. (See link #1 below for more about the process of tanning and burning.)

UV type is the kind of ultraviolet light that is reaching your skin. when you tan outside under the sun, your skin is exposed to two types: UVA and UVB. The first kind is weaker and tans more than it burns. the second kind just burns you. tanning beds use bulbs that mostly emit light in the UVA range, so it will be safer than sunlight with all other variables being the same.

Intensity is how strong the light is (actually, how many photons per unit area per unit time) when it strikes your skin. At noon on a clear day, sunlight is most intense. In a tanning bed, the intensity is at a set level for a bulb, at a specific distance. More intensity means higher chance of getting a burn.

Duration is how much time you spend in the light. Obviously the longer you spend, the higher your chance of injury. But you need to spend some time to get some benefit. Try to limit it to the minimum necessary. The tanning process requires time because it takes a few hours for melanocytes (cells that produce pigment) to react to ultraviolet light, and then you need to keep stimulating them over the course of a few days to complete the tan. A handful of 10 minute sessions should be pretty safe.

Skin type means how light your skin is before tanning. People with very light skin (e.g. redheads and albinos) should be very careful because their melanocytes produce melanin very slowly compared to other people, and there is more time to burn. Also, they start off with less pigment to protect them. Shorter sessions over more days would be recommended.

Certain medications such as SSRI antidepressants (zoloft, prozac) can make people more sensitive to light and increase chance of burning. Your doctor can explain the risk to you if you are on any medications.

It is very important to note that any exposure to ultraviolet light carries a risk of burning and possibility of skin cancer. Damage to the skin accumulates over years, and the effects may not be apparent for a long time. Skin cancer is difficult to treat and is often fatal. Besides cancer, other risks include weakened immune system and accelerated aging of skin. Many doctors recommend you do not use tanning booths, but if you do, try to limit exposure to the minimum necessary to achieve the effects you want.
