what is the best way to put on tanning lotion?

my semi formal is in a few days and i'm also going on vacation.
i am fairly pale so i want to have a subtle tan for semi and give myself some colour before i have to wear shorts on vacation. how would you recommend going about doing this to not look streaky?

Mix it with lotion.dont put to much on around the ankles, knees, elbows. those tend to get alot on them and can look orange. Put it on after your shower and wait 10 + minutes before putting on cloths. you can put it on Morning and night depending on what it says on the bottle. And be sure to wash your hands after!
