what is the best tinted/self tanning lotion (no sun)?

1)Determine your skin tone (typically: fair, medium, dark) and go one shade darker than that.
2)Decide what brand AND method of application you want. Personally, I use a lotion first, let it dry, then finish with a micro-mist. (L’Oreal glow lotion and Neutrogena’s micro mist)

I like to use a combination of Jergen’s Glow Lotion and Neutrogena Micro-mist (medium). I use the lotion first, let it totally dry and then apply the micro-mist.

I am constantly moisturizing when using sunless tanner. Wait 6 hours, before/after your application of ST to apply your regular moisturizer on your whole body. Only do ur trouble spots.

TROUBLE AREAS: Elbows, knees, ankles (These are areas that are typically more dry and rough resulting in a more orangy/darker unnatural appearance when ST is applied)

BEFORE YOU START:
*Get dark colored towels
* Clear an area/room (bathroom is ideal to be near a sink for washing hands)
*Have a regular non-sunless tanning lotion on hand

PREPARATION:
1.)MOISTURIZE - Moistured skin: The sunless tanner will soak in better, hold longer, and be more even (dry skin flakes off = ST flakes = uneven tan). Do this hours before applying your ST. You want to make sure it’s fully absorbed into your skin.
2.)SHOWER & EXFOLIATE - Take a hot shower right before applying your ST, & scrub/loofah your entire body especially those trouble areas.
The heat/steam opens pores allowing the sunless tanner effectively absorb when you apply it and to hold its color longer AND the exfoliating greatly eliminates chance of blotching because it sloughs off uneven skin layers and dead skin cells.
3.)SHAVE: Shave anything you want shaved after exfoliating. The exfoliating helps prevent ingrown hairs and the shaving helps by simply not having to shave off any of your ST later on.
4.)WAIT – If you can, I suggest using an intense regular lotion right after your shower. Again, paying close attention to your trouble areas. Let it rest for at least 4 hours or as long as you can.

HOW TO AVOID BLOTCHING:
1.) Shave as little as possible after application. It will cause sloughing and an uneven look.
2.) MICROMIST - and I mean MICRO, not the regular sprayers. This is because: a) it makes it nice and easy to achieve an even application because the mist is so fine, b) you can get the spray on your back unlike the lotions, c) you won't end up with scary orange palms/knuckles because you are not spreading it and you have good control over the sprayer
3.) SWEATING - just don't do it, period! No contact w. moisture after you applied your ST!
4.) WRIST/HAND BLEND: When you are finally all done and are going to do your hands (which are the very last spot to apply to) make sure to just do the tops of your hands and mix this with a regular lotion. MAKE sure to blend up along wrist with arm! You don’t want it to look like your arms are tanned but your hands are white!

HOW TO AVOID BEING ORANGE...EEK!
1.) YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE - U can't take the color away! You'll avoid looking orange if you apply a light layer each day, but it will also help it look more even!
2.) WASH YOUR HANDS EVERY 5 MINUTES: Use a warm water, soap, and dark towel.

APPLICATION:
1.)Complete PREPARATION
2.)Start APPLYING: Starting at feet and working your way up
3.)Let DRY for about 4 hours and put on dark lose fitting clothes but let it try in the buff as long as you can!
4.)USE all the other tips I provided
5.)VOILA!

OTHER TIPS:
*If you're crunched for time I would apply no more than two layers of your mist.
*Bronzers are great for the summer-I love them! HOWEVER, I would not recommend for the winter. It looks fake and frankly just tacky for winter.
*Get a buddy to do your back, with a micro-mist I have found this to be easier to do solo.
*Use a face-specific lotion to do your face. You might be different. Unfortunately, for myself - I have not had luck with the body ST for my face. (If I have a darker foundation around I will just use that, but I do find the face-specifc tanners to work really well-idk why).
*If you do apply too much to one area: scrub it with a loofah and scrub lemon juice on it.
*Watch out for your belly button and in-between toes-take a damn paper towel and give it a swirl in your belly button after ST is applied. You’d be amazed at how orange it can get if you don’t do this!
*Keep an eye on your armpits after a couple of days. From natural sweating, it can start to look unnatural. Around your pit will be a darker orange. Again, just watch it.
*Make sure you get your ears a little bit!
