why does my acne itch and get worse with sun exposure?

I have adult cystic acne and have for years. I have been able to keep it under control with an organic diet. But now my acne has spread to my neck,chest, shouders, arms and all over my back. It is not ike the acne on my face but they are like blisters and they leave white scars when they are gone. They get way worse and itch way more after sun exposure. I went to the dermatologist and she said it was not sun poisoning but acne... I am so confused I never got this when I used a tanning both to help my acne. This only happens in the summer and happens to my cousin too. I am not on any meds and use a 3-step system every day and also use organic vit a serum.
