Is there any wonder that ancient cultures and societes worshipped the Sun? Need I say that when you look at the number of tanning parlors and personal tanning beds, not to mention the amount of suntan lotion sold annually, we don't seem that far removed from them. The Sun has the power to both give life and take life. That's kinda god-like power in a way don'tcha thinK? 

Of the plethora of physical events that are being forecasted to take place in 2012, it's the SUN that concerns me the most. It's been said that whenever America has an economic sneeze, the rest of the world catches a cold. If there was ever a time that could be put to the test, it's now. 

Egyptian culture, one of the earliest that's impacted many later religions, began with many gods but ended with one. That one supreme God was known as Atum or Ra who was the Sun god. He even had more power than Osiris, the god of resurrection and after life. And who can deny that one of the most influential individuals that shaped Christianity, primarily through the Council of Nicea in 325 was none other than Constantine- the Sun worshipper.

History says he recanted his Sun worship on his death bed. Whatever!

All of which brings us to cycle #24- Sun cycle that is. Solar Cycle 24 has been the subject of much speculation due to competing forecasts on whether it will be an highly active or a quiet low cycle.  With the recent cycle #23 low period being 40% greater thn the norm, conerns have grown about the peak of # 24 around 2012. Ring a bell?

On January 4, 2008, a magnetically reversed, high-latitude sunspot, dubbed as number 981, emerged on the surface of the sun. That reversed polarity sunspot marked the beginning of Solar Cycle 24 and the sun’s return back to Solar Maximum. Now we shall see what we hope may not be. Because the action of the sun can cause massive hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, horrific tornadoes, droughts, etc. (life and death), it seems to be that the Sun is the prime mover of 2012 events we'd rather not face.

Be it physically or metaphysically, the Sun's still to be highly regarded- but not worshipped.
