what is the difference between sunbed light and natural sunlight?

I have read the light is more concentrated on a sunbed. Is this this true and How much more concentrated are they? are there unique affects of the artifical light on the skin which the sun doesnt cause?

Sunlight includes a wide spectrum of light, mainly ranging from infra-red, visible light and ultra violet. The atmosphere filters out some of the harmful ultra violet, but not all otherwise we wouldn't tan and burn.

Sunbeds will only contain specific frequencies. Mainly ultra violet (as they are designed to tan) but also visible light mainly from the blue end of the spectrum.

Overall light is light, so the effects are no different, but sunbeds are probably more intense so you get those effects (tanning or burning) quicker than you would from the Sun.
