self tanner with tanning or tanning bed?

I already know ALL about skin cancer and all...
But would using a self tanning lotion while tanning outside or in tanning bed make you tann faster? better? not at all??

I've never used a tanning lotion with a tanning bed, but I have at the beach. I did notice i got darker with the tanning lotion and I can't complain about the results. I've never gotten tan, I just burned... that was until last summer when I started using the lotions, and it was amazingg. got lots of compliments. :]
Like ya said, "skin cancer and bla bla bla." but i dont think doing it a couple of times is horrible, and the results are good, without you looking fake.
