Do cheaper tanning lotions work just as well as the ones you buy at the salon?

I used to buy my lotion from Wal-Mart. It's been a few years since I've tanned though and I'm not sure about what's out there now. I've already got a really good base tan and I've upgraded my tanning package so that I can use the stronger beds.I've been buying my lotion from the tanning salon, but $40-$60 for a bottle of lotion is crazy! I'm just curious if the stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart or other retail places works just as well? Does anyone out there use a cheaper lotion and get great results?
