Which ways is the best way to tan? Natural Sun light, tanning booth,tanning sprays or lotions?

I have tried just about everything. I have many spent many hours over many years in the sun sweating for a tan. This is way to get a very deep tan if you devote the time. Problem is you will burn sometimes because you spend to long, or missed a spot. Burns add up in the long term to skin cancer danger (I am just experiencing that) and spotty skin as you get older. If you choose to tan by the pool, do wear a sunscreen, and between lounging moisturize well.

I like tanning booths but you really have to start out gradually. It may seem like you aren't in there for very long but you can get very bad burns if you aren't careful (again- skin cancer danger). It is a good way to experience a very deep tan if that is what you are wanting. It can be very expensive to keep up with. If you do choose the booth- moisturize, moisturize, moisturize, AND- you will still need to wear a sunscreen. A tanning booth tan is different than a sun tan, you will get burned under a tanning booth tan if you spend time in the sun!

Spray tans are easy and fast for a wonderful golden look for a special occasion or trip. Just remember you will still need sunscreen when spending time in the sun. It is around $20-$30 per session so depending upon how fast it fades on you, it might be expensive to keep up.

The new self-tanners are great. Just remember- you will need to wear sunscreen when spending time in the sun. With any self-tanner you want to use a 'buff'puff' or something similar to exfoliate your skin before applying for best results, and remember to wash the palms of your hands well after applying. I have tried a number of them and here is what I found:
There is a product call "Tan Towel" which comes in single use foil packets. Easy to use, but can cause streaking where you might have dry patches, such as around your feet, ankles, elbows, etc. They are great to take with you on a vacation to keep up a tan. When I used them on my face I did experience some irritation.
I have tried both the Jergens and Aveeno brands gradual style self-tanners and LOVE them. They are really easy to use and leave no streaky marks because it takes about 5 days of applications to achieve a nice golden glow. They have both body and face versions, but I have found I have gotten some breakouts from using them on my 'sensitive' face.
I just picked up a new tanner from Bare Escentuals that I am using on my face- "Faux Tan". It is a very chocolate-y looking gel lotion and has the fragrance of almonds. It is a nice light consistency for using under makeup and I am very pleased with the results. It is a bit more expensive than the Jergens or Aveeno so I will stick with it for my face.
