i have a question about tanning in the sun?

its summer, and the sun is hot! i want a tan! i wanna nice brown colour.. im very pale though. i used a tanning bed during winter a bit but not much to see a difference. i got a spray tan at the shop a few weeks ago and i just looked so drastic.. and also it started PEELING off because i sweat alot with playing soccer. Ive been sitting out in the sun the last couple of days and i have some sort colour but nothing reall.. my legs have like sun rash on it.. what kind of lotion or protection should i use? i havent been using any and i KNOW thats wrong ...i tried using like tanning oils before and i just got a rash and no tan.. whats your advice.. i wanna be a hot tanned mama!
