Why do people still go to tanning salons even though they are still getting cancer?

There have been so many studies on aging and melanoma, skin cancer and it is said that the sun is a big reason for it. But now everyone is going to tanning beds and it is proven that the tanning beds are worse for you than the sun. The sun gives you vitamin D that you need in your system to keep healthy bones. So people still go to tanning beds that are so much more dangerous to utilized than the sun. Why is that? I know there are lots of shows about it. I have seen it on talk shows, the news, and tv shows with doctors, so why do people still do it. It shouldn't be an addiction like cigarettes could it? I don't know.
