Tanning help - pale skin?

I'm very pale and I don't tan at all, I just burn. I want to get a bit of a tan, I guess as a base just so that when I'm out in the sun I will tan instead of just turning red. I'm not interested in using tanning beds and I don't really want to get a spray tan. I tried using a product called Tan Towelettes, but they are very expensive, so I am looking for a similar product. I've seen a lot of lotions and bronzers but I'm not really sure what all this stuff is or which one is best.
If anyone has any tips or ideas that would be much appreciated!

I have a lotion from Aveeno, it's called Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion, and basically it's a moisturizer but it also deepens your skin color so that it looks like you have a tan. It's completely natural, and it's not orange or streaky at all. I think it works pretty well, you should try it out
