Uvb Uva what is it that makes your skin dark the sun light or uva and uvb ?
i brought sun screen cream so that my skin wont get darker in the sun. but it says it it filters uva and uvb and harmful effect of the sun.

No it will just keep you from getting sun burned. The sun activates the melaninocytes (melanin colors your skin)in your dermis(skin). Your best bet for not turning dark is staying out of the sun or wearing a white long sleeved shirt thats cotton.

The sun is the biggest source of energy known to mankind. It is virtually inexhaustible, the energy is cheap, and its rays have many other benefits besides putting machines to work. Some of these rays we can see, some we can't. There are even a few types, such as ultraviolet light, that are harmful. This article will be focusing on the ultraviolet rays and their use in UVA bulbs, sterilizers and many other things.
Essentially, there are three different types of ultraviolet rays. The first is UVA, and this is the only type we can see. Nowadays you can find special UVA bulbs sold in stores. These are used for the care of reptiles as well as tanning beds. The second type is UVB, an invisible wavelength. The tan you gain from sitting on a beach is caused by this type, and it is also a source of vitamins. The last type is UVC, which is used in ultraviolet sterilizers that can kill harmful bacteria. This type is the most dangerous of the three as it can actually destroy DNA. Using sunscreen while on the beach will help to stay safe from this type of ultraviolet rays. This is also why it is not a good idea to stay out in the sun all day.
Most tanning beds currently use both UVA and UVB lighting. There are dangers associated with both such as skin cancer, but if a tanning bed is used moderately the risk is severely reduced. Reptiles are not affected by the negative aspects of either of the two rays, but it might be a better idea to use the lamps moderately. Two hours a day, whether for reptiles or humans, is enough to keep both kinds of creatures healthy and happy.
